I spent a wonderful evening making succulent gardens on top of pumpkins. A little bit if nature that will hopefully last indefinitely!

I am exhausted today. With the presidential results looming, I am ready for a mental break.

With rainy weather today, I will have the opportunity to look for storm drains that need clearing. This is something my son and I enjoy doing together.

We just finished reading the Whale Scout website. I was reminded of the interconnectedness of the salmon lifecycle. The river protects the salmon, the salmon feeds the bears and eagles, dead bodies nurture the trees, and the trees shade the river (which protect the salmon).

We took a drive to Oak Harbor today. We used to drive to Deception Pass from Seattle. Now, we are lucky enough to live in this beautiful place. Grateful everyday!

Had a great discussion with 7th graders about the characteristics of all living things. Students added "not processed" to their list to which on student responded with, "Then can we also add 'not a rock'" because he felt like processed items are so obviously not living. Ha! I explained that even scientists do not agree on the characteristics of living things.

We took a sunset walk on the Tommy Thompson this evening. We didn't see any harbor seals which is a little unusual. But, it was a good walk with good friends.
