What are the implications of access to nutritious food for a community?

When you don't have access to nutritious food, you can't grow or function at optimal levels - you may survive, but you won't thrive. When everyone in our community can afford and easily obtain fresh, local, organic, seasonal, sustainable food, we all prosper.

    Food Smart Seafood Choices
Many states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?

Most of Washington's advisories posted at the DOH appear to be related to fresh water fish. We don't fish, nor do we eat these species, so it doesn't seem like they are a concern for our family. We try to only be attentive to the source of seafood we purchase directly and prefer to support restaurants that embrace ocean-friendly practices.
