Deborah's actions

Water

Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants

I will prevent harmful storm-water runoff to the Puget Sound and/or Pacific Ocean and increase absorbency by mulching the base of plants and trees at my home or work.

UNCOMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Nature

Leave No Trace

I will practice the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends to minimize my downstream impact in my watershed.

COMPLETED 1
DAILY ACTION

Nature

Do Nature Activities

I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 60 minute(s) each day to connect with the shared ecosystem in which I live and rely on. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)

Liberty Bay is a nearby natural body of water. Run-off from roadways, which contains oil and contaminated leakage from automobiles, can pollute the water and poison the habitat used by any wildlife.  In addition, fertilizers used for landscaping can end up in the bay, damaging the overall health of the marine ecosystem.

While hiking Mount Walker I observed a refreshed forest after a recent rain. The air at the summit felt crisp and cool. During our break, the wilderness was quiet and still. Last, dappled sunlight brightened the shaded understory.

      That. Is. Beautiful.

Thank you for that evocative description. I can see it in my imagination. :)
