If anyone needs any guidance on what to say to elected officials, I sent this:

    "Hello,

I am writing to encourage our leaders to invest more time, money and effort into the recovery of our region's most iconic creature: the Southern Resident Orca. As you probably know, their numbers are dwindling and it's only a matter of time when we can only see an orca in videos or photos. I dread the day my grand kids ask me what a killer whale or an orca is. Don't you dread that day too? Orcas are effectively the elephants of the Puget Sound. This place simply would not be the same without them. Not to mention our tourism rates would drastically decrease and the ecological domino effect is presumed to be catastrophic. So please, I deeply urge you to take more action. Yes, we are taking great action but it is not enough. We must be bolder.

    Thank you"
